Chestnut Hill and Flourtown PA Real Estate and Community

Chestnut Hill is another wonderful neighborhood in northwest Philadelphia, surrounding Germantown Avenue and bounded by Northwestern Avenue, Stenton Avenue, Cresheim Valley Road and Fairmount Park.

A small, immensely walkable community, Chestnut Hill offers just about every amenity to modern city life, bordered on one side by the largest in-city park in the world.  The region boasts a wide variety of housing stock built in the 19th and 20th centuries by prominent architects.  Chestnut Hill is proud of its varied blocks and lanes, cute row houses and twins off The Avenue with covered front porches and neighborly backyards, and stately singles on park side estates with pastoral grounds.

Chestnut Hill sits on the highest elevation in the city, and served as a popular summer vacation spot for many center city residents in the 18th century.  Today, it hosts over a half dozen nationally registered historic sites, including the
Thomas Mill Covered Bridge, the only traditional covered bridge in Philadelphia, and the Gravers Lane Train Station, designed by Frank Furness.  Other attractions include Pastorius Park and its summer outdoor concert series, the Morris Arboretum, and a famous and lively commercial district along Germantown Avenue.  Additionally, access to Chestnut Hill and its environs is convenient with two train lines serving the area.

Chestnut Hill is a vibrant, charming village with independent boutiques and restaurants, social clubs, prestigious schools and a strong, involved community.
